Saving Corn Seed

Last year we bought a mill to grind grits.  To grind grits, we needed to grow some corn.  To grown corn, we wanted heirloom corn seed (John Haulk to be exact).  We bought a tiny bit of seed this year (for a not so tiny price tag), and grew several rows of corn.

After growing a pretty good crop of corn, we saved all of the seed to grow for next year (basically we only grew it this year for seed).  Our handful of seed multiplied into almost a gallon's worth of seed (I'm not sure the exact amount that makes, but it filled up a gallon container).  Next year, we'll grow LOTS of corn (God-willing) and grind a good bit for grits....or that's the plan anyway!!
